1. Trả lời một từ ("Yes.", "No.") rồi im lặng.

2. Đọc thuộc lòng bài mẫu, nghe như đang đọc thay vì nói chuyện.

3. Dùng sai thì khi câu hỏi về quá khứ ("as a child", "when you were younger").

4. Lặp lại nguyên câu hỏi để kéo dài thời gian ("My hometown is my hometown…").

5. Nói quá dài, lạc sang chủ đề khác: Part 1 chỉ cần 2–3 câu.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 kéo dài bao lâu?

Khoảng 4–5 phút. Giám khảo hỏi về 2–3 chủ đề quen thuộc như học tập, quê hương, sở thích, mỗi chủ đề 3–4 câu.

Mỗi câu Part 1 nên trả lời dài bao nhiêu?

Thường 2–3 câu, khoảng 15–25 giây: trả lời thẳng, nêu lý do, thêm một chi tiết. Quá ngắn thì thiếu ý, quá dài thì giám khảo sẽ cắt lời để chuyển câu.

Có nên học thuộc câu trả lời mẫu không?

Không nên học thuộc nguyên văn vì giám khảo dễ nhận ra. Hãy học cụm từ hay và cách triển khai ý, rồi thay bằng thông tin thật của em.

Chủ đề Part 1 có thay đổi không?

Có, bộ câu hỏi thay đổi theo từng giai đoạn. Tuy vậy các chủ đề quen thuộc như học tập, nhà ở, quê hương, thói quen, món ăn rất hay gặp, nên luyện trước sẽ đỡ bỡ ngỡ.
